The Middlebury College Rugby Club opened their spring season at the Chris Munn Rugby 7’s Tournament
The MCRC 7’s team hit the ground running today with matches against three formidable D2 teams, at the Chris Mudd 7’s Tournament at Norwich University. Although the Panthers came up short in each of their three matches, they left it all on the field, with club president Cole Seifer expressing excitement about the team’s performance, particularly in the last match of the day against UNH. “We are a young team, and a lot of our newest players got time on the field against UNH and they played really well!” said Seifer. Coach Kerry Wiebe agreed. “We were facing some strong schools with big athletic players. It was our first opportunity to put our athletes out against outside competition. Despite the lopsided scoreline I think it was a great opportunity to give our newest players a taste of full contact rugby. Hopefully, it’s prepared us for this weekend at Babson.”
