The MCRC sent two teams to the second annual Chris Munn 7s Tournament on Sunday April 26, 2015. The Boys in Blue swept through A-side pool play going 3-0 against Norwich, UNH and UVM before winning a nail biting 17-15 rematch against Norwich in the Finals, for the Cup Championship. An excitable MCRC Killer B-side put up a valiant effort, also playing in the A Pool, though going 0-3 on the day. They were never shut out, however, and rest assured they had a ton of fun.
Highlights on the day include massive fends from Charles 'Ding Dong' Kunze '15 and a track meet hosted by Adam 'Wheels' Markun '17, where the finish line was under the posts for the speedster. The Jackson's (Yang '17 & Bock '18) also made a day of it, with some great champagne rugby here and there. There was also incredible footwork, agility finesse with a side of try scoring delight in the corner from both B-side standouts Henry 'Hank' 'Wheels 2.0.1' Thomson '17 and Sander 'Just A Bit Faster Than Hank' Mora '17.
Hosted by Norwich University, this annual tournament is held to raise awareness for ALS, in honor of a former Norwich Rugger and US Army Veteran who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease in 2013. Cheers to our Vermont neighbors for hosting a great tournament for a great cause.
