The MCRC traveled to the University of New Hampshire for the Scott Milley Memorial 7s Rugby Tournament that was held on Saturday April 4, 2015. This tournament is held in honor of the former UNH Rugby Captain who lost his life serving in the United States Military.
The tournament consisted of six pools, which three teams in each. The MCRC finished pool play 2-0 with a 17-14 win over the University of Rhode Island and a 31-0 victory over Westfield State. The two wins, along with the point differential, were enough to earn the boys in blue a #3 seed in the quarterfinal single elimination knockout round.
Playing the #6 seed, Stonehill College, the MCRC came out with a 42-7 victory. They followed up that performance with a 12-12 draw against Norwich University, however, the MCRC advanced to the finals as they were the first to score, which was the tie-breaker agreed upon by the referees for the tournament.
The MCRC's success ran out in the final, however, with a 14-0 defeat at the hands of the University of Vermont. Overall, it was a great weekend of rugby for the MCRC and the boys will be preparing for the ECRC Conference 7s tournament to be held at American International College on April 12, 2015.
